Individual
Therapy

A place to show up exactly as you are.

Sometimes you might know exactly what brings you here. Other times, you may only know that something doesn't feel quite right.

And not knowing where to begin is okay, too.

Maybe you're overwhelmed, anxious, grieving, or finding yourself feeling stuck in old patterns.

Sometimes understanding where those patterns came from is part of the work. But understanding something doesn't always mean it stops hurting. You might understand why you feel the way you do and still find yourself wondering what it would take for something to feel different.

How to have new experiences, respond in new ways, or begin moving forward.

Maybe you've spent years being the person who handles everything alone, makes sure everyone else is okay, and simply finds a way to keep going through the pain.

Or maybe you just know something doesn't feel okay anymore.

You don't have to know exactly what you need before you get here.

Presence makes room for connection.
Connection gives trust somewhere to grow.
And trust can begin to create enough safety for vulnerability.

__________

To let yourself be seen.

To say the thing, you've never quite known how to say.

To feel something without immediately having to make it smaller.

—————

Because I believe some of our deepest healing becomes possible when we finally feel safe enough to be fully known.

Your first session

We can begin wherever you are.

Our first session is still a 53-minute therapy session, but we may spend a little more time getting to know you and the experiences that brought you here.

You don't need to come prepared with your whole story, know exactly what you want to work on, or be ready to talk about the hardest parts of your life.

We might talk about what has been feeling heavy lately, what you hope might feel different, and some of the experiences that have shaped the way you move through the world now.

There is no expectation that you tell me everything at once.

Trust takes time. I want you to have space to decide what you are ready to share, when you are ready to share it, and what you might need from me along the way.

Our first session is simply a place to begin.

What We Might Explore

________________________________________

So much of who we become makes sense when we begin to understand what we've lived through.

__________

The ways we protect ourselves. The ways we experience closeness.

The things we've learned to believe about ourselves. The experiences that changed us,

even when we didn't realize they had.

Therapy gives us room to become curious about those connections, and to begin understanding

not only where they came from,

but how they may still be shaping the way you move through the world today.

PROTECTION

The Ways We Learn to Love and Protect Ourselves

Sometimes surviving meant becoming really good at holding everything together.

Maybe you learned to keep everyone else happy.
To get everything right.
To stay in control.

Maybe you learned not to need too much from anyone. To figure things out on your own. To think ten steps ahead so nothing could catch you off guard.

Or maybe when everything became too much, you learned how to shut it all out and keep going anyway.

__________

We learn so many ways to keep ourselves safe.

Sometimes we don't realize how tired we've become from trying so hard to stay okay.

CONNECTION

The Ways We
Learned to Survive

Closeness can feel complicated.

You might deeply want to feel known, loved, and connected, while still finding yourself pulling away, holding parts of yourself back, or wondering when someone might leave.

Maybe you learned to keep the peace.

To need less.

To love carefully.

To hold on tightly, or never get too close at all.

__________

Sometimes the ways

we learned to protect ourselves from being hurt can make it harder

to experience the connection

we've been longing for.

EXPERIENCE

The Parts of Our Story That Still Hurt

Sometimes it's what happened once.

Sometimes it's what happened over and over.

And sometimes it's what you needed but never received.

Maybe something happened that changed the way you see yourself, other people, or the world around you. Or maybe there wasn't one moment you could point to. Just years of learning to stay alert, read the room, make yourself smaller, or prepare for what might come next.

Sometimes the past doesn't feel very much like the past when your mind and body are still trying to protect you from it.

__________

What happened to you matters.

And so does what you had to become to make it through.

Maybe you recognize yourself somewhere in these words. In the ways you've learned to survive, the ways you've learned to protect yourself, or in the experiences that still feel closer than you wish they did.

Maybe some of it makes sense to you already. And maybe there are still pieces you're trying to understand.

You don't have to know which part matters most, or where we should begin.

There is room here for the things you understand and the things you don't. For what still hurts, what you've learned to carry, and what you may finally be ready to set down.

__________

There is room here for all of it. And there is room here for all of you.

What Working
Together Looks Like

No two people arrive here with the same story.

What you've lived through, what you've learned along the way, and what you might need from therapy are entirely your own. Because of that, I don't believe in asking every person to follow the same path, or expecting one kind of therapy to make sense for everyone.

The way I work is rooted in person-centered therapy, with pieces of psychodynamic and attachment-based therapy, experiential therapy, and somatic approaches woven in along the way. Those words may mean something to you, or they may mean nothing at all. What matters more is how they allow us to understand your story together.

Sometimes we may look back and become curious about where something began. About the relationships and experiences that shaped what you came to expect from yourself, from other people, or from the world around you. And we can notice the ways those experiences may still be showing up today, even in places you never realized they had followed you.

But sometimes, understanding why only takes us so far.

You can know exactly where something came from. You can understand why you learned to respond the way you do. You can even recognize it while it's happening, and still find that knowing hasn't changed how it feels.

So sometimes, we slow down.

We notice what happens before the explanation comes. The feeling you can't quite put into words. The breath you've been holding. The tension in your shoulders. The urge to pull away, keep someone happy, make yourself smaller, or convince everyone that you're okay.

And little by little, we can make room for something different to happen.

There may also be moments when something more practical would be helpful. I may weave in pieces of CBT or DBT, not as the center of our work, but simply as tools we can reach for when they offer something useful for where you are.

But none of those approaches matter more than the person sitting in front of me.

__________

We don't have to know exactly where the work will take us before we begin. We can find our way together.
